The Business Development Manager is a senior position within the management team and is responsible for all profitable and promotional activity, working alongside the General Manager. Measurement and improvement of the Key Marketing Indicators (KMI’s) for the unit are an essential part of the BDM role. A proactive approach is required to ensure that Key Drivers are continually fed into the business via the venues business development activity. In conjunction with the RUSK & RUSK Marketing Plan the BDM must ensure that the venue database is constantly increasing.
The right candidate will have experience in restaurant sales and reservation management within high calibre and high-volume venues. As the first point of contact for all inbound enquiries, the right candidate should be highly personable, engaging and a confident decision maker. A professional appearance at all times is essential and the right person for the role will be one that takes pride in their work and that is highly capable of managing a multi-faceted workload.
Co-ordinating any in house or external events and to act as the face of the business to guests
Proactively driving business to the site through key drivers
Attending local networking events
Holding approx. six meetings with target companies a week to showcase the venue
Building and maintaining relationships with local businesses and charities
Completing function sheets to the company standard and communicating events to management and kitchen
Managing the agreed event calendar for the unit
Managing the reservations system (ResDiary) and working closely with the restaurant manager to ensure future reservations are maximised and that all parameters and flags are constantly adjusted to maximise productivity
Ensure that all guest enquires are dealt with professionally, in a timely manner and to the standard set out by Rusk & Rusk
Ensuring all hosts are trained to the company standard
Maintain an organised workspace that allows for fluid communication
Managing the stock of all marketing material and report to Marketing team once a week
Complete monthly report and monthly action points within requested deadlines.
Executing local Christmas marketing and bookings over the festive period
To stay abreast of local competition and their activity
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales & reservations, gained in a similar high volume, high quality operation
You should be well versed in contemporary reservation systems, notably Restaurant Diary
Computer literacy is essential, particularly in the use of Word/Pages, Excel/Numbers
